Mathare Parallel Rallies: ODM and Jubilee Party

Today it is showdown between the newly formed political party, Jubilee Party, and the Grandfather of political parties in Kenya, Orange Democratic Movement. The two political parties will hold their rallies in little Mathare Constituency now headed by an estranged MP Stephen Kariouki, alias, K1. The MP who rose in power after the then MP George Wanjohi's position was nullified by the Court Order.

The area MP, whom Mathare people now only refer to as a tourist will be leading Jubilee Party in a rally scheduled to take place at Mlango Kubwa. Initially, the organizers said they would hold a parallel rally at the same venue where the ODM one will be held but this was revoked by the Governor of Nairobi, and an ODM member, Dr. Evans Kidero.

Supporters of the two rival parties have been advised to keep of from violence. The police force said it will provide security to all people who will attend the rallies and said they will  deal with whoever willing to create havoc in Mathare.

Ali Hassan Joho, who is the deputy leader for ODM has confirmed that his people will be peaceful and that ODM as a party will not tolerate hooliganism which can easily spiral out into political violence. The Mombasa Governor also said that he has no problem with Jubillee Party members. He welcomed everyone to attend the rally and assured people that nothing will go out of order. The ODM rally will be held at Muliro grounds in Huruma.
