The Man Behind The List of President's Delegation To Nigeria

While the president on Kenya, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta was making plans for the #NationalPrayerBreakfast, someone else was busy searching for individuals--- irrelevant lot--- who were to joy ride in Air force-one to Nigeria for presidential inauguration ceremony.

Amazingly, that secret someone did not even ask for the president's directive, to him or her, had all power to come up with about 84 persons as the president's delegation.

Well, things went so badly when the controversial delegation list was leaked to the infamous Kings and Queens of ridicule-- Kenyans on Twitter, #KOT. Whether the president read the tweets or whatever happened, he emerged clean when he cancelled the intended trip to Nigeria, instead he send his man---the second in command-- with a delegation of 10 people for that function.

Great! Thanks to the social media for giving Kenyans a voice to speak to the untouchables in the society. But a good question was raised by someone on twitter, has the money meant for bloated delegation been reallocated to something productive in the country? Then he concluded, if not then we did nothing because someone pocketed every penny of it.

Lol :) I think he was right! With big wolves hiding in the president's back pockets, everything is possible.

MPs To Discuss The List Of Shame

Today, the 31st March, is gonna be the day to remember in the history of our country Kenya. The reason why this day will be a historical day is the fact that the parliamentarians will, for the first time, debate on nothing other than the list of shame, that touches some of them.

The EACC list of shame was tabled before the house by the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta during the joint special seating-- parliamentary and senate--, the day when the president called for a shot on war on graft.

The public services was first skeptical about corruption issues but as those implicated were shown the door of exit, they started feeling the chill in their corrupt spines.

Today, the MPs and Senators will have their say about even when their own are victims in the list of shame.

We already know that there is a plot to shoot the list down before it makes an impact in the society. But as the law dictates, people are watching and they (people or voters) expect nothing from them other than to comply to the president's directive.

Kenya has been lurking behind in the war against corruption because those in public offices are not easily convinced to change their ways of life. It is going to be tough since majority of those implicated on the graft list are the same individuals who have a final say about it.I hope they will for the first time think about Kenya in their ruling.

See you there! And Have your Say!

Why The President Is So Quiet On Digital Migration Crisis

Why is the president so quiet in the stalemate between media owners and Communications Authority over digital migration crisis? Let's play it more wiser here. We understand that the president has the final say about this issue, but he has chosen to keep silent as time goes.

Now we're in the second week since the switch off  of the four TV stations: KTN from The Standard Group, NTV &QTV from Nation Media Group and Citizen from Royal Media whose analogue transmission equipment were confiscated by the CA officials during the night raid at the affected media companies' premises in Limuru Kenya. And nothing yep from the man of the people.

In what I see, the president through CA officials wants to force bitter pills into people's throats because he feels that is how to repay people who queued for hour to vote for him into the office. Majority of people do not have money to buy set boxes needed for digital signal, leave alone monthly payment to keep the TV on. In simple words, majority of people wants to watch news on free to air TV stations--- something the three media houses are demanding for. Why shut them down then?

The very reason why the government is adamant to keep Kenyans in the darkness is the fact that their is too much media freedom in Kenya. However, with only two news TV stations now active, the government is now breathing free and has more powers than before.

We know that KBC is state owned national TV station while K24 is owned by Mediamax-- a company that is closely linked to the president, so it is an easy job for the government to keep taps on sensitive issues and also to enjoy monopoly since the giants are yet to arise.

The Other Face Of Mathare Residents as They Benefit From NYS's Slum Upgrading Programme

Mathare Slum Civil Workers Ready For Tasks Ahead

National Youths Service work in Mathare is more than just constructions services underway in the Kenya’s second largest slum.

Youths who have been jobless for many years are now proud to call themselves employed since the president’s launch of slum upgrading programme targeting major slums in Nairobi.

Workers, commonly known as Slum Civil Workers, are grouped in alphabetical groups with each group headed by NYS personnel who in turn report back to the field managers.

The work is so lucrative that has attracted even those hardcore youths who first saw it as a dirty job in initial stages.

With daily incentive of Ksh470, most youths have joined in the course of turning Mathare slums into a better place for persons living in these Nairobi suburbs.

Mathare Slum Civil Worker Resting
The money is divided into two phases; the biweekly pay of roughly Ksh3200  and the remainder is kept by the government as saving waiting for the big day—after a period of six months.

Youths are given different locations to work on everyday. Each groups is directed to work in a certain location like in cleaning sewerage systems, fixing spilling water systems, cleaning the river running in Mathare area, helping in constructions of roads etc,

Although there have been cases of missing names on the payroll, majority of workers are very happy with this work and can do anything to get the money in their M-Pesa accounts at the end of waiting time.

At first, there were a few cases of ghost workers in slum upgrading programme in Mathare slum but those who were found ditching their duties were terminated from the list and their positions were taken by new members.

According to the village headman, Mathare youths are turning into productive members of the society as the crime rate has decreased since beginning this project.

Luhya Girl Explores Kenyan Man

 That Luhya
girl was fine in those prime days. Her calves identified her in a group
of girls. She stood firm with a smile that could melt a man’s heart.

Respect was something she never dared to ignore. In fact, this was
back up for her cool attitude and always had the final say in her
lifestyle.

Years down the life, she never changed her behaviors. Maybe it was
her way of maintaining the culture that ran so deep in her veins, or
maybe she was just that naïve to change in time and era.

Circumcision, Mheshimiwa Just Can't Get It!

Real men see the 'cut' as a simple process

Fine one can quote the biblical scripture as a way of hitting the target with no fear of being prosecuted for hate speech, but one thing comes out loud; he do not understand the meaning of circumcision and why males undergo the cut in the African society.

Of course, one may like talking about as if it is one thing that makes the difference in life. However, mental ability to adapt to the true status as a circumcised man is lacking.

In Bukusu land, the tribe that undergoes one of the tedious circumcision processes, they value this cut and respect it that they do not even like talking about it. This shows that,

a) One is mentally mature

b) Understands the society well and ready to mingle with likeminded people

c) One respects people and the society as whole

d) Attained the age of real men

In Kenya, we have different tribes that circumcise their male child for different reasons. But when I see a 'mheshimiwa' using this simple cut as a way of insulting a certain tribe, I can' help but guess his mind speaks louder than his simple words.

Why was he circumcised? That is if he is truly a circumcised man

On his recent remarks, I was forced relate this to what I understand best. You may find uncircumcised Bukusu boys talking about such like shit in public because their age and mental immaturity allows them to.

Therefore, the only reason why mheshimiwa is up in arms fighting a certain ethnic group is because his little idea about circumcision allows him to.

Maybe his anger blinds his manliness and turns him into a little boy, or maybe his cut was the most ‘painful operation’ making him think, oops! That other tribe cannot with stand that!

In what I think, this ‘honorable’ is one of a few individuals who are forced to undergo the process because of fear, so when done with it, they become boastful about that simple male mark.

I laugh when I see a boy in a man’s body; of course, he is not worth it. Moreover, I guess this so called elected ‘Honorable’ could have run away if he was to face a Bukusu knife into his adulthood.

The guy is a newbie in this ‘circumcision thing’. Real men see it as a simple passage into adulthood.

Who Was Fidel Castro Odinga, Did Kenyan Media Paint The Wrong Picture Of This Man?

The late Fidel Odinga
The late Raila Odinga's first born son Fidel Odinga has left many Kenyans asking themselves, how did he die, who was behind his untimely death and who was he when still alive!

Well, a lot was said about this late young man and mostly labeled him as the way ward man who was ready to face anything, use his power to get whatever that he wanted and no law could touch him. Now in his death, we are baffled to understand him much better.

It is sad that during his prime time, the Kenyan media was so blind about his great achievements. They were always ready to report all bad happenings around him but little did they say about those great deeds he did for Kenya and for the society as whole. Is that what news is all about, tarnishing the name of a prominent person for the company's gains?

I never had a time to research about Fidel Odinga's life until I heard about death. Yes! I was one of those people who were misled by the Kenyan Media houses about the CORD leader's son. In my point of view, they painted a picture of the beast that lived and walked among us. They made me believe that Fidel was only good in causing havoc in public, partying, and enjoying every bit of life without caring about his future.

The stories that revolved around him now are questionable after it has emerged that:

1.      He was a good business person who had invested heavily in Kenya,
2.      He was running a sponsorship program for less privileged students in the society
3.      He loved his people so much and was always ready to stand for them.
4.       He was a sponsor of the rugby team in his rural home.
5.      He was so close to the leaders from all political divide and some actually seek his advice.

And so many other things that were never reported by the mainstream media in Kenya.
Should we ask why the Kenya Media was so interested in Fidel Odinga’s negative lifestyle? I guess we lack professionalism in handling stories that emerge in our midst. A good story should be informative, yes! However, not to the extent of painting wrong images in people’s minds.

The late Fidel Castro Odinga will be laid to rest on Saturday 10th, 2015 at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga cemetery, Bondo.
